About Me and My Platform

My name is Jonathan Spence and I am running as Trustee.  It’s a role I have had in the past and I feel is extremely important in making sure our union is properly functioning.  I commit to exploring the finances and activities of the union to ensure members know what is and has happened at the CMG to make sure our union executives are accountable.

My committee work is extensive. These are some important and successful initiatives in which I have either participated or was the main proponent:

Created first ever Governance Principles for our union.

Purchase of our CMG office thereby increasing the funds available for CMG by millions

Assisted previous National President in the discovery and correction of continuing and significant overpayments to our parent union. I sat on the National Temporary Committee in the aughts as we made improvements for more than 300 temporary workers at CBC/SRC, many members were converted to full-time status.

As President of the CBC/SRC Branch, I sat on the Joint Employment Equity Committee, underscoring our union’s commitment to improving equality in the workforce.
